We had a nice rain last night & some snow overnight, a little more during the day , & is snowing again but still no big accumulation yet but it is coming! Wind is blowing & I-70 is closed or was not long ago. We sure need the moisture. I have lots of bookwork to get done before we can go to AZ so this helps me get with it! LOL

Had lots of phone calls today from family & friends … including Sherie! Everyone was watching the Weather Channel I guess! LOL
Enjoyed the calls.

I sure have enjoyed Pinterest. I could spend way more time than I have!
Doris … Our tastes & likes are so alike!
Honestly, I'm not stocking you!

See you tomorrow … G'Night!

"At 7:25 a.m. this morning, amidst mostly cloudy skies, and temperatures in the low 30s, Groundhog Phil saw his shadow in the little town of Punxsutawney, Pa.

According to folklore, Phil’s sighting of his own shadow means there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Had Phil not seen his shadow, it would have meant “there will be an early spring.”

If Phil’s forecast is right, it signals a dramatic reversal from the mild weather pattern affecting much of the country. Many parts of the central and eastern U.S. have seen temperatures 20 to 30 degrees above normal in recent days. On February 1, just 19% of the Lower 48 had snow cover compared to 52% at this time last year.

Historic odds heavily favor a forecast for winter to last deep into March. Since the Groundhog’s first prediction in 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 99 times and failed to spot it just 16 times. There are 9 missing years in the record, but Phil has issued a forecast without exception.

But just how accurate is the prognosticator of prognosticators? It depends on the source.

The official website of Punxsutawney Phil, perhaps not impartial, claims the Groundhog has issued a correct forecast 100% of the time. AccuWeather’s grade for the groundhog’s accuracy is slightly lower, but still quite respectable.

'Because the year’s coldest quarter, also known as meteorological winter, runs from Dec. 5 to March 5, Phil’s accuracy in predicting a longer winter is about 80 percent,' AccuWeather wrote. But StormFax.com says Phil has gotten it right just 39% of the time. NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center issued the harshest assessment of the accuracy of the 'seer of seers' finding 'no predictive skill for the groundhog during the most recent years' in its analysis. It concluded: It really isn’t a 'bright' idea to take a measure such as a groundhog’s shadow and use it as a predictive meteorological tool for the entire United States.

Noting long-range prediction is hard, at least one scientifically-minded meteorologist expressed resentment over the attention-grabbing rodent. '...Punxsutawney Phil is a punk when it comes to weather forecasting,' blogged Tim McGill, a meteorologist for WGN in Chicago."
from The Washington Post

Personally, I'll be happy if we have only 6 more weeks of winter. I'm afraid it will be snowing in central NY for Memorial Day after the slow start of our season.

Have a great day everyone and hugs all around.

Me (in a tizzy) : God, can I ask you something?

GOD: Sure.

Me: Promise you won't get mad?

GOD: I promise.

Me (frustrated): Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?

GOD: What do you mean?

Me: Well I woke up late,

GOD: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start,

GOD: Okay....

Me (growling): At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait

GOD: Hmmmm..

Me: On the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call

GOD: All right

Me (loudly): And to top it all off, when I got home, I just wanted to soak my feet in my foot massager and relax, but it wouldn't work. Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?

GOD: Well let me see..... the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

Me (humbled): Oh...

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that might have hit you if you were on the road

Me (ashamed): ............

GOD: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work

Me (embarrassed): Oh.....

GOD: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give a false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered

Me (softly): I see God

GOD: Oh and that foot massager, it had a short that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I'm sorry God.

GOD: Don't be sorry, just learn to trust me.........in all things, the good and the bad

Me: I WILL trust you God

GOD: And don't doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.

GOD: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children.

We have a new pianist in the family!

Janice glad things have gone well for Joe.

Doris any thought of a cruise "sunk" when Ron heard the news about the ship that sank!

GGP is worn out so I get baby back!
srr you later!

A Note From Janice
Can't see pic as I don't do facebook...can you send me a copy to email?? TIA

I can understand the "sinking" part...it definitely put a damper on any thoughts of sailing in Mediterrean for us...but in USA I feel very safe..AND most ships really sail themselves unless they have a captain that does foolish things like the Costa ship had. Its all computerized now, but mistakes can be made.

Praise God, things went well with Joe's surgery. Here is part of her email so will paste that!
"Joe finally had his surgery late yesterday afternoon, and now has new knee parts! He was up within 6 hours and walked to the end of the hall early this morning, so he has begun the hard work of getting it all to work well. Of course, he has alot of post op pain, but we are very encouraged so far. Hope to go home on Friday.

Thank you for your prayers!"

A Note From Doris
Praise the Lord! It is wonderful to read the news that your b-i-l was able to get his new knee and it sounds like he is doing very well. We'll pray for his continued healing and progress and that the pain will be tolerable. p.s. I enjoyed reading your trip report. At least I can "cruise" in my imagination, although I may be making progress at talking Oete into a short cruise later this year.

A Note From Love Mare :)
Janice so pleased to hear that Joe's surgery went well, sending prayers that he has a quick recovery and feels better soon.

I've been so busy this past week, but I can't believe I missed so MANY birthdays this week! I'm so sorry!

For me, last week was incredibly busy and stressful. It's "Budget" time in schools, and we needed to make the preliminary, worst-case scenario recommendations for staff cuts. That's never easy. Try as we might, we always know underneath that 95% of the time, staffing cuts affect someone we know. We were blessed to have a vacant position we could cut. It amounted to almost 1/5 of the total reduction required. The Gov. is cutting funding to our schools from at least 3 different directions this year. Makes it tough. I'm okay...at least for now.

Scotty had surgery on Friday. They found that the cancer had grown into the artificial sternum and rib prosthesis in his chest, so come of it was removed. After they removed his lung, and some other bits of pieces inside his chest, his chest cavity was washed with a chemo solution for a couple of hours. In the first 24 hours following surgery, they've had him up in a chair and walking a considerable distance (in our experience). Dad reports great results! Thank you for your prayers for this family. Not only are they brothers and sisters in Christ, but this is one incredible family, and they mean a lot to me. ~Hugs to you Ladies! ~

I'm pleased to report that Mr. B is doing fine now. It's been a week, and he's his usual spunky self again. Thank you Lord!! We've been going through a difficult time in regards to other things, and things are piling on a bit much. Nothing exceptionally major, and nothing health related. Just one of those "rough patches" you run into from time to time. One of those things God gives us to draw us back closer to Him, perhaps. I'm hoping we're about to pull out of it, but the way the world is, you just never know these days. Like I said, we're basically fine, no reason for worry.

Enough out of me now... Many hugs and prayers where needed. MARY, MARE, JANICE, JNETT, KAT, JEANIE...MARYLIZ, SHARON, SALLY, DORIS...all of you are precious! NANCY, it would be great to see you again! Hugs all around the room!!

A Note From Love Mare :)
Thank you Glennis for the birthday wishes so appreciated.
My goodness you sure have had the stressful situations lately. So pleased to hear the school situation is a bit sorted. Pleased to hear Scotty is doing better, he has gone through so much. Pleased to hear Mr. B is doing better too. Sending you prayers for all that is needed and many hugs to you too! Take care Sweetie. God Bless

Well yesterday we had one of our power plants explode here so we were out of power for about 6 hours. We are quite a distance from the plant so that was good as the smoke and toxic fumes were not the greatest.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day today!

A Note From Doris
That sounds pretty scary. I'm glad you aren't closer and only had to worry about the power outage!

A Note From Glennis
So glad YOU'RE ok! Sorry to hear about the prolonged loss of power though!

A Note From Love Mare
Yes, it was quite the explosion, luckily, it was quite a distance from us and 6 hours later we got our power. But, I do worry about the air quality for the houses around that site and some of the farms in the area, and the pollution in the ground and waterway. They are checking into that more now, to assess the damage.
Thank you so much for your kind words, so appreciated
