What is your favorite patriotic song? America, the Beautiful, I just love the line, "from sea to shining sea". I just learned about the old Lincoln Highway that traversed cross country from sea to sea. Lincoln Park, San Francisco to Times Square, New York. I've been on much of it in the West but didn't know it was the Lincoln Highway. If any of you live off of the Lincoln Highway in the midwest, will you let me know? Happy 4th! MARY, thanks for the oh so beautiful card! Love it!

Whose bravery do you admire? That's a toughie...because there are so many. I guess we all do what we do because we need to for the Master Plan to work out.

Today was my turn for the doc...annual exam. I don't expect any adverse news. Even my blood pressure was in order. Then we did a bit of quick shopping, realized what time of the month it is, and got out of Costco as quickly as possible! We did the barest amount of shopping today. I forgot about everyone stocking up for the 4th...I'd have done this days ago! Yeah...when I didn't have a refrigerator! DUH! I guess we'll have to try to go early tomorrow...cuz I don't quite feel like shopping at 10 p.m.!

Hi

Checking in before I go to the lake tomorrow morning. I can't wait to get up there for the 4th. The neighbors around Peg and George are sooo much fun. Maybe I'll be able to keep my eyes open for the fireworks this year. Shell Lake has them one night and Spooner has them the next so it's kind of nice to have 2 displays in one weekend. Spooner is less than 5 miles away and we can see them from Shell Lake .

Went for massage therapy this morning - hopefully I will be fully relaxed this weekend. John is staying home with the critters and working on Scott's car so it all works for both of us.

Had Culver's flavor of the day in a cone on my way home today. OMG - Boston Cream and it was to die for. I almost turned the car back around and got a container to take home - then I realized I wasn't going to be here this weekend and it would be gone before I got home anyway - LOL.

Off to check on the Pioneer Woman and see who won the camera. THAT would be my dream prize

Hugs to all.

Whose bravery do you admire? The men and women of our armed forces.

We're having family over for veggie shishkabobs, hot dogs, steak or sausage, chicken, fish..baked bbq beans, potato salad, coleslaw, lettace tomato etc salad...sinful desserts and good ones: watermelon. grapes, apples, etc.. The men do the the grilling (grunt grunt) and the ladies handle everything else. We've asked our closest neighbors to drop in and our pastor.. The boys have already spotted the grill and all the extra 'to-do' in the kitchen and will be closely supervising. We plan to go see the fireworks in town, but may settle for lounging about grunting about eating too much! =)

A Note From Mary
Aieeee!!! Sounds like you're going to pass a good time!!!!
Dang!!! I sure do miss Louisiana!!!

What's everyone's plans for the 4th? We're having family & friends over for a cookout and swimming Saturday and then go watch fireworks Sat. night. Ken is cooking ribs on his new smoker, along with sausage and hotdogs on the grill. I'm going to try PW's fresh corn casserole ( it looks so yummy) along with tater salad, baked beans and some other stuff plus watermelon and some other kind of dessert. What you cookin

Whose bravery do you admire? Amelia Earhart has always been an inspiration to me. Also, our founding fathers, and every man and woman who has ever served in our armed forces.

One this day in History:
On July 2, 1937, aviator Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first round-the-world flight at the equator.

Morning glories! Headed off to work in a few. Two days this week, woooooooohoooooooooo. Had to turn down a 3rd so I could take care of personal business, i.e. covering the grey among others, lol, before we leave town tomorrow. Not even close to being ready to go but then we'll be home in a week for Gabe's 1st bday so whatever we forget or just don't take we can grab then.

Mary, awesome card as usual. I don't know how you find the time but I appreciate it!

Happy belated Canada Day Mare and Joy! Hope it was a nice one!

Have a great day all! Beary big hugs!!

Who was/is your favorite British Royal? Princess Diana, hands down.

Hi Woozies!

Just got home from walking at Bay Point with my seesters and then going out for supper. We all ordered appetizers and shared. They were all awesome. Great food, great company.

Today I cleaned the taters I dug up and got them ready for storing or donating to my family's pantries. My mom and dad and John's parents will get some for sure as they appreciate them so much. I made potato salad for John tonight (before I left) with the new reds. He's in hog heaven. I used the new Kraft Mayo with Olive Oil and it is pretty darn good! We had it in sandwiches the other night too. I think I have converted to this now. 1/2 the fat and better oil to boot.

Have a massage therapy appointment in the morning tomorrow and then I will be packing to go to Shell Lake. I'll probably leave on Friday (early) and come home on Monday. Then I'll go back on Thursday and come home on Sunday. Busy 2 weekends.

Better get to bed now. Lots to do before I leave.
See y'all later.

Hugs!
PS. Oh Donna.......... where are you?

Who was/is your favorite British Royal? That would have to be Princess Di, because I've not bothered to pay much attention to the rest.

Happy Holiday to our two Canadian sisters!! Hope your day is full of family & fun & FIREWORKS!! None down here this year...too little $$ too much fire danger.
I think we're finally finished with clearing out and cleaning up from all the Science Experiments the Aliens left in our refrigerator while we were camping. I know I cleaned that sucker out really well a few times in the past year (I confess...that's a MAJOR improvement!) But the way it wasn't working the past two weeks has really left the fridge side a MESS. I didn't want to transfer any mold or mildew to the new one...so I washed everything that transferred to the new fridge with bleach and dried it well. I was a bit surprised about how much smaller this one is. It "feels" bigger because of the configuration. It's not a side-by-side. It's also not as deep as a cavern front to back.

SALLY ~ Are you going to the Sears Tower ledge?? I couldn't do it. Not a chance.

SHERIE ~ There really aren't words to express my sorrow that you guys have to go through this. I pray your time together is as uncomplicated and comfortable as possible. You should contact your local American Cancer Society about other kinds of support. There are amazing support systems out there. I'll see what Scotty's dad can share with me as well. You know...you might consider starting a blog so you don't have to spend much time updating your various groups of friends. I remember that Bill & Cristy found it wasn't too tough to post to Scotty's hospital blog, "Care Pages" as they were called, and that kept anyone who was interested informed, from the church, to the school, to family, to hospital acquaintances.

SCOTTY UPDATE ~ He's NED (No Evidence of Disease). They just had an update visit with their oncologist. He's as normal a teenager as possible again, and Mom and Dad are...processing it all as best they can. Last year they just survived; this year there's reflection. Everything in their lives was relative to Scotty's illness...much like Cliff's illness for Sherie at this point.

Well...it's time to go figure out what we need to eat tonight. We had several packages of meat get thawed enough that they have to be cooked. It could have been a lot worse. I cleared out a bunch of salad dressings and other mixologist leavings. This year hasn't been very reliable as far as cooking!

Bruce did have an appt. with one of the docs today...he's doing well since the last med change. She'll run some lab work to see how his body is tolerating the latest med. So far, he seems to be doing really well. I don't know what the increase-decrease schedule will be. She did mention working him off two of the meds, just not yet.

MARY!! It's lovely! Bruce is always cute when he comes in.."We have a Cardmeister Card!!" And he has the various ones displayed around the living room. He cherishes your work as much as I do!

Ok...off to fix dinner. I need to get away from the "evening news." It's depressing...local city workers not taking their raises this year so the city can balance their budget. I can't believe they got the offer! We've already taken salary cuts at the school level. Oh...put the soap box under the bed!!

Based on yesterday's theme :
Would you rather be Scarlet O'Hara or Melanie Wilks?
Think about it, and tell us why.

A Note From Glennis
That's a toughie...I remember reading the book the first time...how I despised spoiled-brat Scarlett! Always flirting with every girl's beau...but later I championed her strength and resolve. Then I pitied her for not being able to turn it off and enjoy her relationship with Rhett. But would I have wanted to be Melanie Wilkes? Although she had huge strength of character, she had no physical strength whatsoever. Who had the stronger resolve though?

Who was/is your favorite British Royal? Diana, Princess of Wales. She is my favorite. Happy Canada to JOY and MARILYN! Today is also my black lab's 10th birthday! Today marks my first day of jogging and exercise. I haven't jogged in many years so we took it easy today. I have to get my waistline back - so many hours of sitting and driving last semester. And it will help alleviate my depression.

Who was/is your favorite British Royal? Queen Victoria..Love the history of the royals, the history of English Isles, actually..

Grandmother is over at the hospital. A close friend of hers is not long for this existence. She's a beautiful person, a truly spiitual woman and will be missed so much. It hurts my heart to see Grandmother hurting so for her friend.

The boys are strutting around. They scared the ahem out of a cat and a squirrel. They must have barked for an hour last evening. Came in all proud with tongues hanging out. Puff looked so wired, he helped, you see. He does his part by barking from the back porch. Silly boys.

Well, I'm supposed to be working. Have a Blessed day!
