When it comes to Barbie Dolls.....
I was the big hearted kid who gave mine to my
younger cousins and they destroyed them.
Alicia still has alot of her Barbie things in the attic,
like the dollhouse, the corvette, etc.

While @ Toys R Us w/Julious Sunday afternoon,
I picked up the $3 special anniversary Barbie
to put away for Rebecca.
They are advertising her as a 1977 Barbie updated
for 2010.
You can see from the side of the box that her
boobs are noticably smaller and she has a waistline.

Well we managed to make it to "senior" rate night at the cheap movie...and we saw "Old Dogs". It is VERY funny...a few curse words but no nudity really (unless you count Robin Williams in a bikini swimsuit)and I think us older folks would get the jokes sooo much more than younguns.. It was worth the $2 and we got some good laughs in! What amazed me is movie didn't start until 8pm, and there were school age kids with parents? in the theater...what happened to bed times on a school night My kids went to bed at that age by 8 or 8:30 I think. Certainly not the time these kids were watching a movie!

Also my sister/brother in law need some more prayers. Tomorrow morning his brother will be buried. Just another blow for them. He has had medication reactions on top of the problems with his knee. Prayers for stamina and recovery also. Its a difficult time for them. Also my MIL is back in hospital...3rd time in 2 weeks; this is not getting any easier. Thanks in advance...I know Wowsie prayers help!

Spring is going to visit here at least tomorrow, highs in 70's, maybe 80's...wowser. That's all the news thats fit to print, so take care folks...

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....I didn't and usually don't.

Please forgive this O'Wowsie as I've been absent for weeks and I'm sorry. Life is just too jam-packed that I haven't had any computer time at all. I would try to read back, but I know I won't make it and if I don't post first, then that won't get done either. I know I've missed birthdays and anniversaries. I do hope they were all good ones.

Kat I have gotten your emails and have been praying. Doris I do hope your knee is coming along. Wasn't someone else scheduled for surgery too, Donna maybe? Hope all is well with both of you and any others I have missed.

Sally love the O'Wowsie lounge, just too special. You do such great work.

I do hope this finds each and everyone of you doing fabulously. I'm hanging in there. Go Wednesday for my allergy shot and it can't come soon enough. I've been working at the work on a dozen different things. Have been getting two or more therapy sessions with Penny each week - one with our pastor and one with her regular therapist and then our time that we spend (hours) chatting, encouraging etc. I have bible study one day each week and well the counting and all involved with being treasurer has me doing a few hours of that each week. We just haven't been home. I decorated for the woman's retreat which was this past weekend. Great one by the way, called Loving Well with Beth Moore. Love her stuff. We had a great turnout and it was wonderful all the way around. I wouldn't have missed it for anything. I'm about ready to crash here and it's only 7:22 I'll never make it to 9:00 at the rate I'm going. A little shut-eye is in order. That about sums up what I've been up to. Know that even though I may not be here a lot, I certainly do miss you all and think of each of you often. I'm off to rest a spell as I know tomorrow is already going to be a long one. Much love around the room. Until next time ~Toodles~

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....
Ugh! I watched the whole dang thing just so I could see Jeff B. and Sandra Bullock get their acadamy awards. Really thought it was rather dull and wasn't all that impressed with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as hosts. What did y'all think?

Just wanted to give y'all a big head's up on one of THE PIONEER WOMAN'S recipes!!!!! I cooked her apple dumplins last night and everyone RAVED about how good they were!! They were.... they REALLY were!! So... if you want to fix an easy to make dessert.... try them! They're really good!! Since they call for quite abit of sugar.... I used a can of Diet Mountain Dew to offset some of that sugar and calories!! Since Ken is diabetic... I figured I better ot overdo on the sugar. I bet you could make it with splenda and it would still taste good.... maybe... Anyhow GREAT recipe!!

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show....listened more than watched. Like someone said some of those gowns, what were they thinking! Thought Sandra Bullocks was elegant and appropriate... Haven't seen The Blind Side but sure want to. I CAN NOT believe I forgot to watch Barbara Walter's special..I always watch those! We were busy moving furniture and I had E channel on for the gowns...and when the real show started it changed to ABC channel. I hate I missed her last one! Oh well, the furniture needed doing!

We FINALLY got Dh's desk OUT of living room back into our room (have been trying since the paint job was done in January). He wasn't gung ho about it but needed to be done. Meant I had to give up my "chair" in our room I love but.... We have tooooo much furniture! Mainly due to relatives passing and inheriting bits and pieces. Some I couldn't pass up but our house is not that large! Room available for desk due to consolidating sewing stuff in this rooms closet ...now its a craft/sewing storage closet!

Drizzly rain in my neighborhood today...good day for staying in and reading. Take care ya'll.

An O' WOWsie Note From Stacie
Janice..... if you have high speed internet you can watch it here - Barbara Walters Special

An O' WOWsie Note From JaniceTX
Thanks Stacie, went over there and watched. That might have been best way...I could pause when the phone rang...grin. It was a good special. I like Sandra Bullock and enjoyed her interview. Ya'll do know she has a home in Austin?? And a business or 2....so we claim her as a local gal...grin.

An O' WOWsie Note From Stacie Again
I enjoyed it too. I watched that but didn't watch the Oscars - too tired. LOL..... I'm so glad they post shows so you can watch them if you miss them.

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....
The TV in my puter room has nothing hooked up
to it but a PS2,
and Bob channel surfs too much on his 52" in the den
so I just stay in here alot.
Will catch anything neat in re-runs I'm sure.
Would like to see Sandra Bullock get Best Actress,
she doesn't get enuf recognition, in my book.
Yes, I liked Julie & Julia, but I've seen
far better acting out of Meryl Streep.
Spent the afternoon w/monkey #1 today.
We hand him a $20 bill every 6 wks for his Honor Roll report cards,
but this time it was a Banner Roll one!
We all we to Logan's Thurs PM to celebrate,
and today I took him to 'our store',
Toys R Us.
Then we went to Johnny Carino's for a bite to eat.

This is Sebastian's "Woobie".
They each have one, all different,
but he is the only one who has become seriously attached to his.
They were shower gifts, that Ali picked out ahead of time.
When it became apparent that he & the woobie had become inseperable,
I ordered him one off the internet as a spare.
Silly thing ended up costing me $30 by the time I had it shipped here.
Found him a spare on clearance at Babies R Us,
very close to the orig...nada
G'ma can't stand to see him w/o one esp when he is tired
or not feeling well.
It's Thumb/Woobie.
I just ordered him another spare, managed to get this one shipped here for $24 this time.
All we can figure is Tristan prob threw it away.
The boys like to throw things away, and while they are there
grab a trash item in trade,
and Tristan is our trash-hound.
Ali had bought Becca a precious pair of shoes @ J.C. Penneys,
hadn't had them long when 1 turned up missing.
We are sure that's what happened!
Sebastian has learned how to open doors now.
Becca's nurse was watching the three of them Thurs
while Alicia ran a quick errand.
She missed the boys, and went to check.
They were in the bathroom, scrubbing the toilet
with their mom's hairbrush...ROFLOL

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show...thanks for not giving it away! I appreciate it!! So tickled for Sandra B and Jeff B. too. I don't know that "Precious" was ever shown here...some movies aren't. We rented "The Hurt Locker" and haven't seen "Blind Side" yet. We rented "Inglorious B's" and saw most of it...I think we both fell asleep. We own "Up" and "Julie and Julia". A couple sound like movies we'd like to see... We'll watch "Invictus" and probably "Up in the Air"...there was another one that sounded like we'd watch it if I can remember which one... The gowns were lovely for the most part...some of them...good grief! LOL!

The weather just couldn't quite get decided until today. By that time, I'd already hefted a bag of feed, and pulled something in my back. Darn!! We have a new house rule...no heavy work on Friday. LOL! That's so Farmer Bruce can be functioning when I'm home...then I go and do...yeah, but I wouldn't have if he'd been mobile at all! I'm thinking it's really early to bed tonight and try to be at the Chiropractor's office by 7. If I can get this adjusted soon, it won't get too bad. I swear...what was I thinking?? Other than that, it was a big laundry weekend while waiting for the weather to settle in a little.

Sending prayers to all the corners of the room where there are needs...thinking of all of those special places and hearts that ache.
DORIS ~ What a great report from you about your knee! WOO HOO!! You take it nice and easy up at Dave's...NO ice skating!!
MICHELLE ~ Some trade. Gosh, I hope it gets better in a big ol' hurry!! 5 day weeks when 12 hour days are tossed in the middle...no fun!! Doggone this business is rugged on their employees!!

I've got a whole handful of meds lookin' at me...it's time to swallow my nightly doses. It's a good thing they go on a fairly full tummy or I'd rattle all night. Hugs all around...hope everyone has a happy Monday!

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show..... not watching it here. Don't think I generally watch it.

Should have gotten way more done this weekend than I have. Laundry is good at least. Anyone seen Where The Wild Things Are? Never a favorite book of mine anyway and not loving the movie. We have about 25 more minutes to watch. We'll watch just to finish it but won't be buying it or watching it again.

Gotta go, Jake wants to play.

was always one of mine & my childrens/Grandchildren's
most favorite books.
Sorry you didn't care for it.
We haven't seen the movie yet,

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....the gowns are the big attractions for me as well. We rarely go to "real movies" not paying those full ticket prices. We go to the "cheapy" one as I like the seats better in that one anyways. Old Dogs is playing there now, $1 Mondays might be where we head to see that. The ads for it looked funny. Also Lovely Bones is there, and I wanted to see the movie version, the book was interesting although horrifying at the same time. Here they changed the ending for the movie. Also had wanted to catch My Sister's Keeper but missed it entirely at the theather, figure it might make the tv soon? They changed the ending on it as well. Any one read the new Jodi Picoult that's out, its about kids with autism I believe. Can't think off the name at the moment.

Kat working on a list to email you. Been busy sewing this weekend...yippee a project or 2 done now. Some of the mending I accomplished had waited nearly a year! Proscrastination is my middle name. GRIN...take care ya'll.

An O' WOWsie Note From Janice
Gee I DO KNOW that "Hear" is proper spelling not "here" in that sentence...what I get for not proofreading!!

An O' WOWsie Note From Maryliz
It is House Rules? I was thinking about ordering it.

An O' WOWsie Note From JaniceTX
That's it I believe. Costco had copies in hardback but being more economy minded of late hate to spend $ for hardback as I know it will come out in paperback soon. Or better yet I can get it from the library. Just finished U is for Undertow by Sue Grafton...love those books. I read it in 2 days ...need to learn to slow down and savor them better. I have quite a few of hers in hardback, autographed yet. Met her many years ago...suggested she have Kinsey get a cat, so far hasn't happened...grin.

An O' WOWsie Note From the kat
Janice, I miss our $1 Theater.
It closed down a # of years ago,
and needs alot of repairs/updating.
And even though the floors were sticky,
the seats were comfy and rocked.

An O' WOWsie Note From Joy with WOWsie Hugs
We saw Blind Side and yeah, the Best Actress went to the proper person in my opinion. It was a great movie and will be coming out on DVD at the end of this month. I'm buying that one!!
Old Dogs made by the same director as Wild Hogs is coming out on DVD this Tuesday and I'm getting it! Great team up of characters in both.
Own Julie/Julia and love it. and Kat, although I've seen Meryl act with more depth in other roles, she did a bang up job in this as she WAS portraying Julia Child to a 'T' and did indeed do her homework all the while with the focus on the story about the real Julie.
Janice, You WANT to see My Sisters Keeper, very well done!
We don't have any cheapy movie theaters left near us any longer, but when we do go to the movies we manage it by getting coupons for 'dinner and a movie' at one of our favourite restaurants where the movie only ends up costing us each $5 bucks at the major theater. So I'm not squawking at that.
I wanted to see Valentine's Day but will probably wait now until it's out on DVD, same with 'It's Complicated'.
Caught the last part of Barbara Walters while she sat with Sandra Bullock. I love her, always have and look forward to seeing any movie that has her in it. Sandy Rocks! Loved how she said, I'll never be a SAUndra, I'm a SAndra and always will be. She is such a doll.

I have a basket of mending to do ... want a trip to Vancouver? ... my list of stuff is ridiculous, ... one of these days!

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....
I love watching the red carpet but will probably miss the whole thing today as it is on while we'll be out at a celebration dinner for a new grand baby for a friend of ours.

I have seen The Blind Side and pretty sure Sandra will pull something big out of that role. It was a great movie. I also think Julie Julia was excellent so Meryl Streep has a shot too. It was well done and bought that one! BUT ... I haven't really looked at the nominations yet. I figure Avatar will fair well although I don't plan on going to see it and District 9 is sounding like they'll get something too.
Speaking of movies, OLD DOGS will be out on DVD this Tuesday ... can't wait to see it cuz it was one I never got to see in the theatre. Loved Wild Hogs and this looks just as funny.
If you want a good Funny Cop movie to go to I highly recommend COP OUT with Bruce Willis, which we finally went to see last night ... the whole theatre was in a roar throughout and reminded me of when we saw Wild Hogs, ... it was very funny. Lots of swearing by the criminals ... but still it was hilarious and worth the price of a movie ticket!

Better go for now, gotta make some lunch for the big guy then get ready to go.
HUGS and prayers to all in need ... have a pleasant Sunday dear ones.
HUGS, Joy

An O' WOWsie Note From the kat
Joy, don't know if yall have these there yet,
but they are kiosks called RedBox.
We have them outside our Walgreens Drug Stores,
and in the entryway of our WalMarts.
They Rent all movies,
including the newest releases for $1 per night,
and you can return them to any location.
http://www.redbox.com/

An O' WOWsie Note From Joy with WOWsie Hugs
No such animal here in the land of expensive everything.
We can rent older movies for a week for $3 bucks at the video store tho so not so bad. I buy what I want tho but wait till they're in the Prev Viewed section once the deals start. All the high end ones go to that about a month or two once they hit the video stores.
I'm a movie Junkie ... but not into the horror stuff.
I want to see Up in the Air with George Clooney, that comes out on DVD this Tuesday too. Gonna be a good week for movies!
Hugs, Joy

When it comes to watching the Academy Awards Show.....I haven't seen a single movie that's nominated, so rewally not too interested. May watch the red carpet portion to see the outfits.

The sun is shining and the snow is melting - woo hoo!
Now that I'm finished with in home care for my knee, I'm allowed to go out into the world again, so I've been to PT, the grocery store, Walmart for Mederma for my scar and yesterday Pete took me out for lunch. I feel almost human! This afternoon we're heading for Dave's house to visit them and stay overnight (Dave lives about an hour further west of the hospital) and then tomorrow and Tuesday we'll spend with Mike at the hospital because our sister-in-law is going to come home and work three 12 hour days. Our nephew will be with him on Wednesday. Mike's been having a bit of a rough time - it is common for some patients to have difficulty adjusting to the very strong auto-immune medications that transplant recipients have to take and he also apparently has aspirated at some point and has a touch of pneumonia because of that. It is going to be a slow recovery, but the doctors are still pleased with the way the liver is functioning and things in general are going so we're feeling positive overall and so greatly blessed.

Steve just called and we got a full report from Harper about the great Sesame St. Live show that they went to see on Wednesday. Cammy even talked to us on the phone and said "Grammy" and "Elmo"!

Well, I'd better get a move on and get my shower and finish packing the suitcase if we're going to keep to Pete's planned schedule. You're all in my thoughts and prayers and I'm sending big hugs all around.

When it comes to Mothers-in-law...the less said the better. I never got the chance to meet Bruce's mother, she'd passed long before we met.

Life is very full, and very interesting at "the playground." Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this mess. Let us do what's best for the children in God's eyes. It's hard to look past individual needs, wants, and preferences when there are major budget cuts facing committees and decision makers.
Then there are the health issues. My day custodian left the site before lunch on the run...his wife needed to go to the hospital for emergency care. We have biopsy results...advanced lung cancer. There's hope, and we know there's always prayerful hope and power in prayer. Marie and I were raised in the same little church where she's still a member. I think I am as well, just not actively. Our little school family, and especially her husband would appreciate your prayers. He's struggling with the news, but holding up as well as he can. Thanks in advance.

In the meanwhile, things are going about as well as they can for the two of us. Bruce's last medication adjustment seems to be a little better except that his tummy gets upset easily. Don't know what there is with that, but...we'll check it out. Time just gets away from us easily. I'm so drained when I get in, about all I can do is catch up, clean up, fix dinner and crash. This wasn't a rough week discipline-wise, but we sure had our hands full with other off the wall things! Mercy! One day was "un-swallowing" day. Oh...no fun. The nurse was having a meeting in the health room, and we had one kiddo with a big fever and another who was equally sick, and needed privacy...we had to move their meeting!

I haven't even been keeping up with my cooking group, although I have been cooking regardless. I was really tickled that one of my co-workers shared orange chicken picatta with me the other night...but wow...hard to eat enough of that for a meal. It was good, but really sweet. We had beef stew one night that was an adaptation of an Italian pot roast...now that was some tasty stuff. Last night we had pork chops the old fashioned way, with a minor exception...I used rice flour instead of wheat flour to bread them. They seemed to stay crunchy a bit longer. Not a bad trade at all! Tonight...is Italian. Not quite sure how I'm fixing Italian sausage, but that's what we're having with pasta. Don't tell my group leader...I may "open a jar" of sauce. She hates when I do that! LOL! Right now, tomatoes are better from a jar of sauce anyway with the freezes. Maybe I can convince myself to make fresh bread... That would be a good trade off.

Spring is definitely HERE. Our "egg plants" are producing! I was so tickled to find real honest to goodness brown eggs out in the hen house today!! Bless my girls! LOL! I took 6 out from beneath one of the hens, left her a couple since she was on the nest. I didn't want to upset her overly much. I'm tickled!! They're becoming very sweet girls this Spring. They still won't come to me to eat from my hand, but they will let me "pet them." Goofy things.

I'm off to see what I can get into with limited energy today. Just don't have a lot of Oomph today.

Does anyone have a favorite going to the Oscars tomorrow night? I rather anticipate that Avatar will clean up pretty well. I hope Sandra Bullock gets a reasonable shot at an Oscar. She's done some odd roles, but she is a good actress. I've seen Hurt Locker...while I don't expect the actor to win, it was a worthy performance. And what have you seen, and what do you think? I can't even remember what all is nominated! LOL! Hugs to all....prayers where they're needed...

When it comes to Mothers-in-law.....
Mine was the tops!
Such a grand Lady.

Went to bed b/4 the last night, so am up early.
George is wandering the house whining because his Bob isn't up yet.
Have bacon in the skillet, to serve w/some sunny-side-up eggs...
wonder if Bob will want some wham-biscuits to go w/those?

As far as my special need I shared, prayers still needed.
Needs to be resolved b/4 the 15th,
or will escalate.
Good News : Alicia's house has been sold,
and they will close on 3/31.
So that's a prayer andwered for sure!

God bless you and yours, and have a blessed wknd!

An O' WOWsie Note From JaniceTX

You take that there can o biscuits
and Wham em hard
