The last time I sang the National Anthem was ...Hmm, on July 4th at church. I've had a couple crazy days. I lost a lot of info on my computer but not the photos and have been dealing with that and have a new backup system. :p Yesterday I went attended a clinic class on ADHD, yes, I'm still dealing with that and have resolved to go back on meds again. Tuesday is my appointment - I have visions of being one of those ladies on TV who hoard stuff and can't et their house straightened up. :p Hapy Friday, ALL!

I can't decide on a favorite color. My daughter-in-law has a place setting of each color and her table always looks very festive. Guess that's one reason they call it Fiesta! (No, I don't try to steal hers, but I'm jealous!)

Jackie Kennedy was ...a very special lady. She did have a very *artful eye* in everything she decorated.

Good Early Evening WoWsie Gals.....Thought I had better check in tonight. My days are just running together. It seems that the days are going very slow. I am not use to being home this much during the day.

Ray had his second cyst sack removed yesterday. This cyst was in the middle of his chest. The doctor told Ray that he can't do anything for a month. Ray was very upset over this. The doctor explained to him that the stitches would split open if he did anything. The doctor then asked him if he wanted to have stitches put back in again? Of course Ray said *NO.* Ray did bleed quite a bit. The pain is worse this time for Ray. He is taking his pain medication like he should. I am praying he can sleep better tonight. I kept waking to check on him. Poor guy was very miserable. It broke my heart...:( to see him suffer so much. Today, he is still in pain. I have caught him trying to lift one of my heavy pans......and I yelled for him to stop. He doesn't like being an invalid.

One more cyst to be removed. I do hope to have that one out before I return to school. If I am at *My Playground*.....I can't keep an eye on him. This cyst is on his back....so yes, he won't be able to do anything for another month after that. I am sure he will try to sneak out and get on his tractor.

The biopsy came back on the first cyst that was removed...it was just ruled as a cyst and NO cancer. We were very happy over that for sure.

We have been keeping in contact with Jason. So far Angela is one cent...and she is ready for Skyler to be born. Although he isn't due to come until August 24th. I don't think that Skyler will wait that long. Of course we can't wait for him to come either.

Well, I must get busy. I am making potato salad for Ray. He had a bit of a hankering for it. Gosh, I boiled up lots of taters too. So, my favorite guy will have potato salad to eat for while.

Have a blessed evening now. Prayers for ALL....and many hugs too. God Bless all of you.

Jackie Kennedy was ...Classy

Hi Wowsies! Just trying to make a post and say I missed you all. So much to say and still read back and catch up. I haven’t been on the computer much and no excuse for not posting except been down in the dumps. Cliff’s birthday was on the 5th, so it set me back into a mood where I didn’t want to do anything, or talk to anyone. I know that’s the time to post, but just didn’t seem to get on the computer very much, and that’s not me. \

Started some pool therapy and met some ladies who go Monday – Thursday mornings and joined their “little exercise group”. Let me tell you their little exercise did me in for a whole the hour of it! Kicker was I had already done my own PT exercises before that, so I was pooped. I walked slowly into the changing room and got dressed to go home and when I got there, let Tramp out, ate something and fell asleep in the recliner! I slept about 1 ½ hrs and woke up, piddled for a bit, fell back asleep, and ended up falling asleep last night about 10:30. Woke up at 5:00am, and then fell back asleep. I was sore all over, but it was needed. I didn’t make it this morning, but am going in the morning. Tests are coming out ok, but am starting a new medicine to help my problem I’m having.

I’m sending hugs, prayers and lotsa love to you all and again will try and do better at posting more often. I miss you all!

My favorite Looney Tunes character is...I liked the Three Little Pigs. Well, I closed my account on the dating site - I found myself spending far too much time updating the profile, adding pictures, looking at others who read my profile, checking my email and I didn't like the feature where there was no privacy for me to search through profiles - there'd be this alert feature that told everyone you were online. And there were many times I didn't want anyone who viewed my profile to know I was online because they might want to chat with me, and I didn't acknowledge their initial contact. And I wasn't getting the kind of response I hoped to. I like the guy okay who goes to my church whom I met through the site but there are no sparks. TA DA!

My favorite Looney Tunes character is...Dat wascally wabbit, Buggs!

I think I flunked my stress test today. The doc turned off the treadmill about half way through when the BP soared like an eagle. 254/113...and climbing. The good news is my heart didn't seem to react adversely at all. He mumbled something into the recorder about "beta blockers" and sent me on my way. I imagine I'll be hearing from one of my docs...with a new Rx soon. I have to admit...their version of walking and mine differ vastly!! Maybe it has to do with leg length... *giggle* Within minutes, the BP returned to normal - you could see the relief on the young nurse's face! He was so relieved!

That's about all the excitement I need for today. The cold Lizzie has been experiencing finally got here!! YAY!! It's cooled off soooo much!! It was all of 75° while we were in Chico...in the 80's now with a breeze! So nice for a change! It's almost chilly! LOL!

Well...we were out of here so early today, I'm thinking a nap is definitely in order. Going to curl up with F. Bruce and a book for awhile, and that should do it! LOL! We stopped for Chinese for lunch...all those carbs are making me drowsy, and I didn't sleep well last night anyway. Dinner is already figured out...chili rellenos, tamales, and sides. Good enough.
Will catch you after, WOWsies!

My favorite Looney Tunes character is...I don't have one - they all sort of irritated me. Yesterday, I enjoyed my first free admission to the Museum of Modern Art using my volunteer badge! I took myself to lunch in the Museum Cafe which has great food and walked through every floor. The place cards for my mother's 80th birthday party arrived, and I will be hand calligraphing them soon. One of my favorite girl singers is...Norah Jones.
Like Linda Ronstadt, she sings torchy-bluesy music. She doesn't seem to have Linda's depth...she's more "breathy" the way she sings. But she's got a really sweet sound that's relaxing.

Nothing going on here but trying to beat the heat. It was too hot to even want supper last night. So we had a salad and called it good. Willow got a good grooming topped off by damp sponging to settle her for the night.

I have an early doctor appt. in Chico in the morning. Why morning? Probably because it was in the 100's when I made the appt. and who wants to be doing midday appts. when it's that hot? Oh well...shouldn't be anything too invasive tomorrow. I'll probably have some tests scheduled that I don't appreciate, but I suppose that all goes along with the program.

Now it's time to try to fix something for supper. We're playing in Greece this week! Wish me luck!

A WOWsie Note From Jeanie
I have a couple of Nora Jones CD's. Like her sound but do have to be in the mood for it as it is a bit heavier story line! I'm almost certain I heard her & Willie doing a 40's love song duet on the radio coming home last night. I have the series of CD's that Rod Stewart did with that sound & love them. Dinner? We went vegetarian all from the garden! Just been too hot to eat much evenings. Willow is getting spoiled big time it sounds!

One of my favorite girl singers is..... I like so many ...right off hand I'll say Linda Ronstadt singing 40's torch light music or Blue Bayou! She has a very soothing voice.

Well, here comes another boring rattle on about our projects! LOL
So as always feel free to skip on by!

Been busy as always here. Painting the house until it gets too hot. Been working on the west side & early afternoon is as far as I can go! I get so anxious that I'm going to dump an expensive pail of paint while up on the ladder. When Ron can finish way up & lower the scaffolding I think it MAY be easier.

I am so thankful ...today I called a contractor that our daughter told us about. Ron was not keen when I told him the guy would be here around noon to give an estimate on doing the rest of the siding. The peeks & height on two sides are enough but 2 other sides would require it to all be done off ladders because of the porches. Both taking the old boards off & new on. Ron won't even let me try again to get up on the highest point for fear he would have to call the fire department to get me down so he is doing this all alone under my careful watch. And ... with farming to do only a few hours a day can be devoted to this.

Well...he just called me from swathing hay to say HIRE THEM!!!!! I can hardly believe it! We will still have to paint but that won't be as bad. It will be another week or maybe 2 before they can get here so we should be able to finish the west side before they come. Ron has about 6 boards to go. They all have to be cut to go around the half moon window & the peek then he will paint trim & I'll be able to get on the scaffolding when it is a bit lower! THEN he will work on the new porch floor! Yippee! Yes...we have too many projects going at once but we don't seem to be happy without tearing something different up!

BTW we are using Benjamin Moore paint Pale Sea Mist on the body, Simply White on the trim, & Dill Pickle as accent. I am very pleased with the colors as they are soft. The dill pickle color is very pretty...more on the dill flower side than the cuke! LOL On their site you can pick a house with similar structure & apply the paint colors to give a little idea what it will look like. Very helpful though actual color on the house will vary from the puter.

Well, I better get beans & cukes picked. Put up some pickled beets. They are so pretty & we love them! Our tomatoes aren't doing much of anything. Probably need to dice & freeze more onion today too. Guess I better quit talking & get to picking!

Hugs all around!

A WOWsie Note From Glennis
I'm so tickled to hear you hired someone!! I can't tell you how much pacing I do thinking of you two on scaffolding out there at the ranch...
Your colors sound wonderful! You'll have to send out a finished shot!
Still love hearing about your projects...so there!

How did it get to be Monday morning already?! Yikes!!

Morning glories!! We had a very nice weekend tho a tad on the hot and humid side (they say this isn't normal Jersey weather!) Saturday we went to the beach and tried to stay cool. The breeze helps and a quick dip in the 65 degree ocean was a nice cool off but I'm too much of a wimp to do more than a quick dip at that temp. Still got a bit over heated but survived. On Sunday we tried a new church which was ok, had bfast out and then spent the day picking up items we needed and checking out the shops in Cape May. Ducking in and out of the AC was helpful. Later we had a storm hit. Guess it got pretty bad in some areas of south Jersey but we didn't notice too much as we were driving up to have dinner. When watching the 11p news we found out we had actually had a tornado warning for 1/2 hr. which was scary since we didn't hear a single siren. The storm made the weather much better tho. Dropped from 98 to 73 with low humidity and the evening was great!

I would ask that you remember my former co-worker Vickie Goff's family and friends in your prayers as her funeral service is later today. If you missed my previous post she was hit and killed while picking up her mail so her passing was totally unexpected. She will be greatly missed.

Thanks my wonderful Wowsie glories!! Beary big hugs and lots of love.

A WOWsie Note From Doris
Michelle, I will be remembering Vickie's family today as they celebrate her earthly life. I'm sorry you've lost another friend so suddenly.
Darlin' you didn't hear any sirens for the tornado warning because we mostly don't have them here in the East where tornados have always been quite rare. With the changes in climate that are happening now, it might be a good idea if we did have warning sirens!

A WOWsie Note From Jeanie
Remembering your friends family today... her co-workers as well. Hugs to you!

A WOWsie Note From Glennis
Sending thoughts and prayers for your friend's family and co-workers today...
Glad to hear you had a lovely weekend! Hate to tell you this, but we don't have tornado sirens out West here either... You're spoiled by the Midwest! It's not something they do everywhere. But then..."tornado" doesn't mean TORNADO in the F-3,4,5...in our neck of the woods... We might get a funnel cloud and a point 5 or an F-1 on the rarest of occasions. Usually it's just an odd micro-burst that hits us.

A WOWsie Note From Michelle
See what a sheltered life I lead. I thought everyone had tornado sirens, lol!! Thanks for setting me straight ladies.

Thank you for the advice on fly repellent JOY...we looked some up and the primary ingredients in most of the recipes are Avon SSS and Vinegar! Citronella, Lavender and Eucalyptus oils all add in as well if desired... I had a small bottle of SSS and she seems much more comfortable after a thorough application of that! A week has passed...she doesn't walk away from me when I walk out to see her. Not even when I have the fly mask in hand. She knows... She enjoys her evening grooming session...we set all those nasty itches at rest with a good currying (nice rubber fingers), followed by a stiff brush, followed by a smoothing brush, then a final rub down to settle all the hairs. Then we brush her face with a brush as soft as a baby's brush. We need to work on that mane and tail...it's not too bad...just a little messy from trying to fight the flies. She's got the best demeanor. I sure hope this carries over to riding! She'll be an angel! I'm tempted to work on riding her bareback in the pen, just to see... I probably will before too long! LOL! I can tell you that she thinks grapes are really yummy and watermelon is pretty spiffy too!

It's gotten hot again...It's supposed to be triple digits again. Blech. That's just no fun, that's all I can say. DORIS ~ My housework doesn't get done in the heat either, unless I'm doing it in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. I don't sleep well when it's hot. I don't do anything well when it's hot! LOL! I know that's all part of summer, but...ish. It's not my favorite part. I could be happy at 90...tops. No such luck though!

I do need to get things done though. I need to get some laundry done...ready for you-know-what to happen August 4th. That's way closer than I want it to be. I have a funny feeling my tomatoes are all going to ripen about August 10th. That would figure! LOL! Speaking of laundry...I found a pair of what look to be 3-4 week old kittens in my laundry sink this morning. Oops! I guess Mama didn't want them wherever they've been anymore. She's defending the laundry porch with extreme prejudice. She was smacking the dickens out of the toms when they came looking for breakfast this morning! LOL!

One thing is certain here...you never know what's going to turn up next!

A WOWsie Note From Glennis
I mean you really don't...there are now 3 kittens...

A WOWsie Note From Jeanie
I need to get some SSS for me! Don't think our tomatoes are going to finish off well by the looks of things. Every thing else is now in full swing & we are enjoying!

Have you been to the Statue of Liberty? I'm sad to admit that here I am a native New Yorker and I have never been to The Statue of Liberty. It IS on my bucket list, tho.

We have a tiny break from the heat today, but the humidity level is still "oppressive". For some reason this kind of weather also makes me ache from head to toes, so I'm taking it very easy and my house is suffering from my neglect. In this situation, housework just might kill me! lol

My search for a mother of the groom dress continues. The one I thought I loved on-line was awful in person, so that was a bust. Last week I did see a couple that were close to what I want and I'm now have to be measured to confirm that my measurements correspond with the size charts well enough to go ahead and order something from that same company that they can deliver in time for the wedding. It will mean taking a leap of faith that based on the other dresses I saw or tried on in the same fabric and the right color and close to the same style, I'll order a dress that I've only seen in a picture. I figure that will be at least as good as my alternative which is "settling" for something I am not crazy about and having it cut off to tea-length and altered down a size for a lot more money that I'd hoped to spend, etc. Who knew that dress manufacturers don't have ready-made stock of the styles on their website or in their catalogs that can be shipped right out? The store has to call and find out what might be available or can be produced in your color and size in time for your event. Tomorrow we're going to a shop where they've been very nice on the phone and I'll get measured and have the "experts" advise me about how they think the pretty dress that can be ordered to arrive in time (Aug. 31st for a Sept. 18th wedding!!!!) will look on me. This is the same shop where the bride and bridal party are getting their dresses, so I'm sure they will do their best for me. Unfortunately it is 3 hours from home, but we will be able to have dinner with the bride and groom, so that's a nice plus! I do plan to purchase a back-up dress that I've got my eye on at a dept. store just in case there is a snafu with the order and delivery or anything and I can wear it if I have to. I am NOT going to this wedding in my birthday suit. I guess life wouldn't be nearly as interesting if things were easy.

Now, if you can get that image out of your mind, have a pleasant rest of your Sunday! Hugs all around.

A WOWsie Note From Glennis
I hear you about the clothing issues Dearest Doris...it's gotten the same all over. Economics, I believe, has caused something of a reduction in production... The last "mother of the" I was associated with ended up picking her dress up on the way out of town to the wedding...same kind of situation. She was the bride's step-mother...how awkward! Had raised the kid since she was 10...but was still 2nd fiddle so to speak! Only on the roster though...not in the heart! Glad you don't have any of that to deal with! It will all work out!

Poor Willow is having a miserable time with flies. It's no worse than where she was, and she's got a fly mask now, and we apply fly wipe, but it's just not enough to keep her from having problems with them. Her shoulder was itching so bad while ago she was having a dickens of a time trying to get the itch scratched...she tried rubbing on the ground, then a post...so I went out with the curry and stiff brush and it seems better now.

I've got my next Royal Foodie Joust dish braising in the oven...slow, low braise. This month our ingredients are tomato paste, honey and local beer or wine. It's fun to see what everyone comes up with. It's kind of a cross between Iron Chef and Chopped, except we were doing this LONG before Chopped came out. I like the way we select our ingredients now. We have a list, and everyone votes for 3. The top 3 become our ingredients for the next month. I'm having the most horrible time staying out of there! LOL! I'm doing a brisket, and it smells heavenly. That, however, won't be finished for hours...I need to fix something for us to eat a lot sooner than that. I don't know what it's going to be just yet! LOL! I guess I'll go fiddle in the kitchen until something hatches. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

A WOWsie Note From Joy with WOWsie Hugs
Try spraying her with some Lavender Water ... steep like tea, cool, put in a spray bottle. Or maybe even a few drops of lavender oil to the water. I know Mosquitoes won't light .. maybe flies won't either!
Dang horse flies, they hurt too! There has to be something that flies hate that is a natural product to put on her face especially. Poor baby. Tough time of year for them for sure.
Hope your weekend is going well otherwise.
Hugs, joy
